Here’s the Halloween giveaway I promised!
As I mentioned before, I got most of the books from Wordstock, but not all. Not all of them are signed either, but most of them are. I tried to read all of them, but I didn’t QUITE manage it.
Without further ado, we have two prize packs!!
Prize Pack #1: Four Middle Grade Books
The Peculiar, by Stefan Bachmann [SIGNED!]: Two changelings caught between humans and fairies solve a mystery. (This is the only one in this prize pack I haven’t read, but I want to!)
Wait Till Helen Comes: A Ghost Story, by Mary Downing Hahn: This was my favorite ghost story when I was a little girl. The main character has a new stepsister, and they move into a new house…a haunted house. 🙂
The Year of Shadows, by Claire Legrand [SIGNED!]: Olivia moves into a crumbling down music hall with her Maestro father and funny grandmother, and she thinks she’s meant to be a loner….that is, until she meets the ghosts haunting her new home.
Written in Stone, by Rosanne Parry [SIGNED]: This is a lovely novel about the Makah, a whale-hunting Native American tribe in the Pacific Northwest (where I live), and Pearl, the main character, is sharp, resourceful, and surrounded by cool ladies.
Prize Pack #2: Four Young Adult Books
A Nightmare Affair, by Mindee Arnett [SIGNED]: Dusty happens to be a Nightmare. That’s not as scary or suave as it sounds–basically, you sit on someone to sit in on their dreams…but when Dusty sits in on the dreams of a hot guy Eli, her dreams happen to predict murders. It’s a murder mystery set in The Arkwell Academy, a Hex Hall-type high school. (Sadly, this is the only one in this prize pack that I’ve read. I wanted to read the rest of them, but I couldn’t read that fast.)
Born of Illusion, by Teri Brown [SIGNED]: Anna’s mother is a fake medium, tricking people into believing that she can speak with the dead–she doesn’t know that Anna herself CAN tell the future.
Coda, by Emma Trevayne [SIGNED]: In this dystopian world, music is used to control people, and Anthem’s only escape is a rebellious underground rock band…until one of the members dies under mysterious circumstances. (I REALLY wanted to read this one, but since it’s a paperback, I was afraid I’d crack the spine. Oh well! I’ll get it from the library.)
In the Shadow of Blackbirds, by Cat Winters [SIGNED]: Mary Shelley Black doesn’t believe in ghosts…until her dead first love comes back to haunt her.
The giveaway will end on Halloween, October 31, at midnight!
ETA [11.1.13]: This giveaway is closed! Please congratulate the winners, Abby and Jaclyn!
I know, the witching hour, but not particularly awesome timing–if I’d REALLY been thinking, I would have ended the giveaway with enough time to get it out so the winners could read BEFORE Halloween. Sorry!
It’s easy to enter! Just plug your name into the widget above and answer this question in the comments: What’s your favorite spooky/Halloween movie or book?
